Why Do the Work

Introduction

  Why Do the Work

I met this family who went through a life altering event sparking them to make different choices in how they interact with life (internally).  Prior to the event their external life looked to be going well: the house, career, etc.  Imagine the Universe went to them in the past, sharing the idea of; the way you are living your life is not how you want to live, it’s not working and deep inside you would like to change.  How might they have responded.  After (their event) they decided to live intentionally, subsequently changing their external way of life.  They went on a travel adventure but also a life adventure, a journey that continues on.

Possibly we don’t all have to go through a negative or challenging situation to propel us to change.
  This work can help in a proactive positive way with guidance through some of life’s situations.  With the above example we’re not trying to get you to second guess yourself.  When it’s going well realize too there can be internal changes to benefit from which will enhance your external life.  For example the words we use define how we feel (inside).  Are you “busy” or living a full life?  Do you see the choices present there amongst the chaos or is life only something being done to you?

The Practice brings forth the philosophy;
Don’t use fear as a motivator.  Not for yourself, not to affect others.  The point is not to change to avoid some negative life moment that may or may not take place.  Also we are not suggesting that what you were, are doing is “wrong”.  You are on your journey and there is always the possibility for change in this Universe regardless of what’s happening in your life.

Through the process s
ome of your life may look the same (especially if it’s going well).  What will definitively be different is the way you feel life, that you feel life.  Eventually you realize it’s not an event that changes your life, it’s your willingness to change that drives results.  You can find this will within without the need for the pain (of a challenge).  The second phase of this is realizing challenges will likely come anyways and releasing the need to make them painful allows you to move through them with ease and grace.

For some there exists an internal resistance to something different than it is now.  Do you feel there is something in your life to change?  If you look within how are you, how do you feel?  Are you open to living life a different way.  Part of the intention of this Practice is to bring awareness to how you feel and the possibility to change.

Imagine the Universe today gently offers up the same message to you;
the way you are living your life is not how you want to live, it’s not working and deep inside you would like to change.  You might currently be happy/unhappy?  Are you open to this nudge from the Universe?  The idea is to pause for a moment and look at your life and feel into how you would like to be followed by presumptuous (bold) action.

When we look at what’s not working, the Practice is in part speaking to your relationship with the ego and the thoughts in your head.  Working through challenges is one aspect of the process, enhancing the positives in your life is as well.  The Practice helps with: knowing yourself, enhancing your connection and faith, learning to trust while quieting your mind of unwanted thoughts (and more).  Most of what the Practice helps with changing is the internal (which drives the external).

I know someone who was laid off.  You can imagine there being some trepidation over this new situation.  Knowing them: they work hard, are a good employee and valued contributor (to any organization).  Companies change their focus and possibly the layoff was inevitable.  Shifting the focus from them to you see how some of what happens in life could be viewed as “not your fault”. Consider the idea of; something about your previous plan landed you here at this place in time (internally and externally) whatever your situation is.  Now embracing being responsible for your whole life (releasing the victim mentality) the opportunity exists for growth.  Then it becomes less about maintaining or “getting back to where you were” and more about how to move your encompassing (internal/external) life forward and the actual actions that follow.

We can always look back at how we were and what we could have done differently.  The past aside, the realization is awareness of how you were before is not how you want to be going forward (no matter how it was going).  Now shift your focus to the present moment as a place for growing as an individual.

Now how would it feel to hear (as a whisper); the way you are living your life is not how you want to live, it’s not working and deep inside you would like to change.  What do you feel in hearing this, rather than think, what do you feel (internally)?  What proactive action (changes) will you open to…

As you go through the Practice and change you will notice more of your life.  There will be less regret about the past, less time looking back and greater focus in your embracing of the present moment.  The secret to this work the secret to this Universe is the message (gentle nudge) from the Universe is always relevant.  Even in the midst of a change the message to change carries value, it’s only in your mind the limitations.  You can take some breaks, some can sit on a plateau for a time but the change will come round as a reminder to go live (evolve-change-grow).
