Success (S1. Success)

   Success

.».  Opening
By definition success is achievement, within this evolving Practice we look at the journey of succeeding.  The journey of success, from mediocrity to thriving (and continuing to thrive).  To thrive at the deeper levels is To Feel with success here being your personal internal and external success.

.».  The Ethos of Success
» Break the cycle of existence, mediocrity.
       How?
First figure out what success looks like to you.  Not something better or different than your current situation, truly what would it Feel like to have your whole Being aligned with the direction of your life?  Then let that happen, be open to it and take action (3 distinct action steps).
Let that happen:  Allow it to happen through space.  (S5. Allow), (S11. Space).
Be open to it:  Including it looking different than you might think.  (S10. Faith), (S4. Understanding Knowing).
       Take Action:  (S5. Action).

Note:  This is a potential learning moment.  For me I would let go of this feeling of lack: whether it’s around time, money, relationships, etc..
The response is not a list, it’s truly to feel your life and connections (S6. Relationships).
Can I start with a list as part of figuring out what success looks like, to understand (S4. To Know) the direction of my life?
Sure, look both at what success looks like to you and feel like to have your whole Being aligned with the direction of your life.  Initially you may look at them independently where you define success and explore what succeeding would feel like.  Will you be open to them blending together and your definition of succeeding ultimately being to feel?  In this awareness know that you don’t need to skip directly to feeling.  Live the journey and the steps will flow (be clear).
Note:  You may wonder what are the parts of my whole Being?  S7. Essence offers one possibility of the overall you.
Three steps to contemplate (E1. Expressions) could also be: your awareness that you are to break the cycle of mediocrity, to figure out what success looks like to you and on to what would success feel like.  Then send that feeling (emotion) out to the Universe (S5. Emotions).
Note:  Success to me looks like that my life is a choice rather than a need (S10. Need)

» Consider what success looks like to you as a lifestyle (S5. Lifestyle), what is your path forward?
Some of it you allow, some action, some you open space for.  And do and be the work.  Be the work while you create it (S1. Do Be Create).  It may seem confusing initially that you are creating the work.  In a sense take what you like from this process, other teachings, most importantly your own ideas (which are evolving) and create the work, create your life.  We are here to create, the closer you are to this intention the more the Universe provides the resources, moments and clarity around your actions.  At the deeper levels success is you creating, you feeling (S4. To Feel) and the Universe expanding (through your creation).
Note:  For me when living a lifestyle of being while doing (thus creating) there is a focus (I have) around how I am in the world.  With this focus breaking me free of the chaos and distractions that keep me from my own intentions.

» I am my success.
You are to declare this and live it (each moment).  See this as a sort of life mission.  Allow you to be the intention of success, you are the point of all that you do (and be).  See how putting you (first) the confusion goes away.
If after some accomplishment you don’t feel good then you are not your success.  When you are abusing yourself to get something done this is against you being your success.  Yet life is hard and at times we have to do thing that are not in our best interest, those things might sustain life but not move it forward.  Welcome in this crack in your perception to realize the greater life.  So you don’t just stop doing anything that is bad for you (like a hard job), the point is to realize your life and movement towards I am my success.

 .».  To Practice
» What are the criteria for you to answer I am doing great.
Your action of defining success is a path to knowing yourself.  Exploring this question and subsequent answers are ways to more deeply know yourself, to break the cycle of existing and mediocrity… to thriving (S11. Your Will).

» What is my definition of success? What would success look like to you?
For this practice you could start by defining your view of success.  Then contemplate the following two questions:
What are you willing to change to be that success?
What does it (your success) feel like?  Send that feeling to the Universe.  Finally you could feel into what is causing the pain that is a block to your success?
Note: I realized the idea of; we are currently running one step ahead of the failures.  My life was changing, filled with new experiences yet the failures were still quite prominent (and at times painful).  In each experience I could feel the success, this realization of the momentum itself was also a success and my path to thriving.
As an added idea see it as your success.  You may want to get this or that but what does that success feel like for you, as your success?  This way the success is not only something external, it’s also specific to you.
Imagine someone who feels bad, whether a hangover or an illness.  In that moment of their life they likely will view success as feeling well, being healthy.  In the Practice we typically focus on the positive and to stay away from negative examples though sometimes the contrast can serve a purpose.
Note:  At this moment of writing there were things I wanted, yet I could feel that some sort of peace would also be a success at this point in my life.  I stared considering health as a success and a way of life to embrace.

» What’s holding you back from succeeding?
Maybe don’t make a ton of lists for this one.  You can write a few things down but really feel what is holding you back?  Possibly it’s your thoughts?  Eventually the answer will be nothing and you simply live viewing success differently than maybe you “thought”.  When you arrive here this question will no longer be a question for you (S11. The Collective, When you stop answering the questions you will know).

.».  Expressions
You:
» To each success you will better understand the power of your failures.
The power of your failures is to move you towards success.  Conversely you can go the route of regret and doom.  I failed and I learned… success.  This Expression highlights how much the failures are perception, from one point of view a failure, conversely a lesson through which you evolve (succeeding).
Keep in mind the learning of the lesson and subsequent success that follows may take some time.  There is a cost (S5. Cost) for every action and it can take time for that cost to unwind as you live out the learning.
» Society has it’s version of success, what does your version look like?
To truly answer you are to know yourself (S11. Know Yourself) beyond societies view (S11. Collective).
» But that’s not your success.
The external success is not your (S11. The You) success.  Looking at success for you internally rather than the external success (typically material possessions, job titles, etc.).  This is the success where you disassociate from the ego, where you (internally) move forward and evolve-change-grow.  Now may be a good time to contemplate what your success would feel like beyond the external.  The success that moves you forward (internal life) rather than only your external life.
Note:  I noticed while writing at a coffee shop my focus was outward (on the process) and I’d ended up eating my pastry rather fast and was uncomfortably full.  Where is my (internal) success in this moment?  Gone until I became aware…

The ego:
» Success in one aspect of your life does not guarantee success in all aspects of your life.
This is the fallacy of the ego (S11. Ego).  Live from the heart and realize you possibly have work to do and be throughout all aspects of your life to truly be successful (E3. Joy).
This can be a good time to define the different aspects of your life. For example say your career is going well, you are a brilliant manager or how ever you are in your particular job.  It could be easy to think you are also good at all the other aspects of your life.  Are you, likely work to be done…
» The ego will try to infiltrate your success.
When you have success the ego will tell you that we are awesome.  Beyond the egoic point of view you are neither awesome nor not awesome, you are always you learning growing evolving (might as well enjoy the ride).  As you are doing the work and have success acknowledge it, enjoy it from the heart.  Conversely, during a failure the ego will tell you you did something wrong.  Don’t buy into this dualistic (S1. Duality) pattern.  You have likely heard the saying we learn from our mistakes let this be more than a saying to you.

Focus on the Positive:
» We use a lot of what we want to get away from as motivation for change.
Use what you would like to move towards (S12. Focus on the Positive) to fuel your movements through time (change) and you will have greater success.
» Through the work once you have one success (change) then you know it’s possible.
Let this grow for you.  Spend less time (or more, your choice) regretting.  The challenge of the success is you may wonder why didn’t I do this weeks, month’s, years ago?.  You see how good it could have been back then.  Don’t let this choice from the past derail your moving forward.  All that matters is now and how you move forward.  Releasing needing to always ask why (S2. Why) and regretting are each a success of their own.  The awareness that it’s possible becomes your belief… faith (S10. Faith).
The Alignment Posture (E2Alignment) introduces an idea around it is possible.
» What makes me great?
       I embraced success, succeeding.
Say it (I embraced succeeding), similarly you could say you have the confidence to do and be the work, you have the self esteem to do and be the work.
» If you worked for something without enjoying the journey you likely will not truly enjoy the something when it comes.
Recognize you are still on the journey (now), enjoy now.  Take for example retirement.  You may enjoy you no longer have to do your job but that’s not enjoying retirement, that’s being happy you no longer have to do that job.  How to focus on the positive?
       + Enjoy the now.
+ Recognize everyone’s definition of success is different and your version of success is unique to you.
+ At one stage of your life the lessons and subsequent evolving will be viewed as success.  They are the building blocks for your success.  Success upon success and so on…
+ It’s ok to be successful.
+ It’s ok to have money.
Know though the success mentioned here is about you eventually knowing internal success.  Where the external success adds to your life the internal success is the life you feel.

.».  Example
The classic situation is you start creating, creating the work (your work).  Through excitement you abandon you, your health, your life.  So focused on creating the work you almost forget to live, forget to breathe.  Live the work (too).  One concern is that in making the effort to find yourself (evolve) through doing the work you become the work rather than becoming you.  You are the intention for the work you do.  Don’t become the work, become you, know yourself.

Considering the idea of but that’s not your success:  You are a good manager and your team does well… but that’s not your success.  You get a raise… but that’s not your success.  In that it doesn’t mean that you have evolved internally.  We say internally but we are speaking to the greater you, all parts of You.

.».  Summary
You might read this Aspect and say yeah, makes sense and then file it away but to live it is to make You (S11. The You) the intention for your life.  Say it: I am the intention for my life.  And yes as part of your life you will help others, be a good person, good neighbor what ever you’re calling… with the foundation for your actions (S5. Action) being that I am the intention for my life.
One more time, say it, this time feel it in your body, in your Being that I am the intention for my life.  Say it, pause, feel it (S11. Smile Breath Posture).
