Poem
• For Sailors Who Dream
To quietly drift away with the evening tide
The full moon shining on the bow
The marina lights on the stern
The current guides us toward the Sea
The light off the moon
Mirroring back from the Sea shows a slight breeze
The sails unfurl and fill
A slight inclination then headway
Look back one last time
no need
Everything is with you
Past the shoals, past the rocks, past the lone spinning light
A little more wind, a little more inclination
The hull glides effortlessly through the water
As if powered by your dreams to be
Far offshore now
The red, green and white glide through the darkness
Pointing a little lower
The moon shines into the cockpit illuminating your compass
You are on course
A course of freedom, freedom to be
Briefly a light gone on below then off
Through the companionway she emerges
You are living life and it is good
